Dorm bed sizes by school

Most residence hall beds are twin extra-long (Twin XL, about 80 inches long), but not all: some apartments and newer buildings use full-size or larger beds, and a few schools only name the sheet size. Here is what each school's housing page says, read in October 2026. Check your specific hall before you buy sheets, and keep the receipt.

Buying sheets

  • Twin XL sheets are 36 x 80 inches; standard twin sheets are shorter and will not fit well.
  • Buy two sets so one is always clean, and check whether your hall uses full-size beds before ordering.
  • Mattress pads and toppers need the same size. Do not bring your own mattress; several schools prohibit it.

See what each school bans on the dorm prohibited items page, then use the move-in checklist. A mistake? Report a correction.
