Privacy Policy

This describes, plainly, what FreshMoveIn actually collects and why - not a generic template. If something here doesn't match what the site actually does, tell us.
What We Collect
Email address - only if you submit it on the packing checklist page to receive the free PDF. We use it for exactly that: sending you the checklist. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything beyond that single purpose.
Standard server logs - like any website, our hosting infrastructure logs basic technical information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and operational purposes. This is standard web server behavior, not something we built custom tracking for.
Google Analytics - we use it to understand overall traffic patterns (which pages get visited, roughly how many people, which browsers and devices) so we know what's actually useful to improve. It collects aggregate usage data through cookies and similar technology - not your name or email. Google's own privacy policy governs how it handles this data; see Google's Privacy Policy for details. We don't currently use any other advertising trackers or analytics services beyond this.
What Stays on Your Device
The Saved Universities feature and your progress on the packing checklist are both stored using your browser's local storage - genuinely never transmitted to our servers at all. Clearing your browser data, or switching devices or browsers, will reset both.
Email Delivery
If you request the checklist PDF, your email address is processed by Resend, our email delivery provider, solely to send you that one email. Resend has its own privacy practices governing how it handles email delivery on our behalf.
Affiliate Links
Product links on our Dorm Essentials page are Amazon affiliate links - full disclosure is on that page. Clicking one takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's own privacy policy applies. If you make a purchase, we may earn a commission, but we don't receive any personal information about you or your order.
Other Links and Embedded Content
Some pages link to external university websites, Google Maps, or display campus photos hosted on Wikimedia Commons. Once you leave freshmovein.com, that site or service's own privacy practices apply, not ours.
Children's Privacy
FreshMoveIn is intended for prospective college students and their families, not for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your Options
If you'd like your email removed from our records, or have any question about what we do or don't collect, contact us and we'll handle it directly.
Changes to This Policy
If what we collect or how we use it changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
