Fall 2026 Move-In Details

Move-in appointment times vary by residence hall - check My Housing for your specific slot. A Volunteer Move-in option exists Aug. 14 for specific approved groups only. Submit your BuzzCard photo and enable your digital BuzzCard (via the Transact eAccounts app) before arriving, so it's ready to go. Once you reach your unloading zone, volunteers help move belongings from your car into a bin - don't leave your vehicle unattended, and move it to short-term parking as soon as it's unloaded.

Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
Complete the self check-in process about 30 minutes before your move-in appointment, then plan to arrive at check-in at the time of your appointment.
Check-in location
A single, central check-in location for all residents - see the New Resident Check-in Map on GT's own housing site for exact directions and parking.
Parking
Look for signage directing you to single-car and multi-car lanes at check-in. After checking in, volunteers direct you to your specific unloading zone, then to short-term parking once you're unloaded.
What you'll receive
A bin to help move your belongings from your car once you reach your unloading zone, with volunteers assisting.
Vehicle restrictions
The check-in location has a maximum height of 7 feet 6 inches to enter, so U-Hauls and other tall vehicles won't be able to enter - plan accordingly if you're driving one.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
