How we find and verify move-in information
Where the information comes from
Move-in dates, housing and orientation details come from each school's own public web pages, usually the housing or residence life office. School statistics such as enrollment come from public datasets including the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard and IPEDS, and can lag the current year.
How an item reaches a school page
- The information is found on the school's official page.
- It is extracted into a staging area, never straight into the live site.
- It is checked for plausibility, such as sensible date windows and real hall names, and reviewed by a person before it is published.
- The check date is stored with the dates and shown on the school page.
What “dates last checked” means
It is the month we last compared that school's dates with the school's own page. It is not a promise that nothing has changed since. Schools revise windows, and move-in appointments are often assigned individually, so the school's housing office is always the final word. Each school page links to that source.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment from schools to change a page.
- We do not guess dates. If a date is not published, we say so.
- We do not let affiliate links influence what a school page says.
