Vermont College of Fine Arts is a small private graduate art school based in Montpelier, with roots in the Newbury Seminary of 1834 and independent since 2008. It offers low-residency MFA programs: students study online with a faculty mentor and attend a short in-person residency each term. Residencies have been held at the California Institute of the Arts, its affiliate, since January 2025, so there is no campus housing in Vermont.
