Move-In
Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Students arrive on the day of the move-in time slot they chose when they signed up. Residential students check in to collect a room key, and every student also checks in for Welcome Week at Wilson Commons. Room assignment and move-in information is emailed to your Rochester email address in July.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time - your exact move-in date is shown above in the Overview.
Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Individual move-in time slots on Aug 24 or Aug 25; vehicles are received 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug 24.
- Check-in location
- Personal or rental vehicles check in at the Valentine Lot; drop-offs and taxis use the Barbara J. Burger iZone behind Rush Rhees Library. Welcome Week check-in is at Wilson Commons.
- Parking
- The Valentine Lot is open to arriving vehicles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- What you'll receive
- Residential students receive a room key and help moving in; all students receive a campus ID card, Welcome Week wristband and t-shirt, and mailbox information.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
