UC Davis began as an agricultural branch of the UC system in 1905 and has grown into the third-largest UC campus by enrollment, with the third-largest land holding of any UC after Merced. All incoming freshmen are guaranteed one year of on-campus housing, typically in one of the residence hall areas near the university's central quad and Mrak Hall, the campus's own administration building.

Fall 2026 Move-In Details

Move-in appointments are scheduled individually through the myHousing Portal once you receive your room assignment by email - only arrive on the day of, and shortly before, your own scheduled appointment time. Students who can't make their scheduled appointment should contact Student Housing and Dining Services by email in advance.

Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time - your exact move-in date is shown above in the Overview.

Parking
Park in your housing area's unloading zone to unload, check in at your area's Check-In Station, then register your vehicle at the Parking Station - after unloading, all vehicles must be moved immediately to nearby parking.
What you'll receive
A cart or hand truck at the Cart Station near your check-in area, available first-come, first-served in limited supply, to help move your things from your car to your room.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.

Orientation

Aggie Orientation (in-person; part of a required three-part sequence with Aggie 101 and Aggie Advising)
