Kent State's main campus houses first-year students across 23 residence halls, with freshmen required to live on campus - the annual student-run "Movers and Groovers" service program helps new students carry their belongings in during Move-In, part of a broader welcome tradition called KSU Kickoff.

Submit your student ID photo online before arriving so your FLASHcard (student ID) is ready when you check in - residence hall keycard access requires it. Students moving in Aug. 19-20 check in between 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; students moving in Aug. 21-22 check in between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The annual "Movers and Groovers" service program has volunteers help carry belongings in.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time - your exact move-in date is shown above in the Overview.
- Parking
- Two unloading options are available: 30-minute self-unloading, or Express Unloading (recommended when available at your specific residence hall).
- What you'll receive
- Moving carts are available at the check-in tables, though supply is limited - bring your own cart or dolly if you have one.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.

Orientation
