BGSU's 1,338-acre campus, one of the largest in Ohio, requires first-year and second-year students to live on campus under the university's own Residency Requirement, with move-in centered around a single welcome tent at the Stroh Center rather than individual residence-hall check-in.

Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Print and display your residence hall vehicle sign on your windshield before arrival, and note your move-in route color - you'll follow color-coded signs through campus. Make sure your bill is paid in full beforehand; check-in only happens once the Office of the Bursar clears you to live on campus. Don't head straight to your residence hall - your first stop is the welcome tent.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time - your exact move-in date is shown above in the Overview.
- Arrival window
- Arrive during your scheduled move-in appointment - if you have a noon move-in time, that means arriving between 12-1 p.m.
- Check-in location
- The welcome tent in the Stroh Center parking lot - do not go directly to your residence hall first.
- Parking
- After checking in at the welcome tent, you'll have 15 minutes to unload your vehicle at your residence hall before moving it to long-term parking (Lot 12, if keeping a car on campus for the semester).
- What you'll receive
- Your room key, given to you at the welcome tent after check-in - you'll need your BG1 Card (or photo ID) and your move-in ticket QR code ready to show the move-in team first. Move-in boxes are available at your residence hall if you don't bring your own, and volunteers are on hand to help unload.
- Vehicle restrictions
- Vehicles going through the welcome tent must be no higher than 7 feet - taller vehicles are directed to a separate lane and pull off next to the tent instead.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
