William Paterson University is a public university on a 370-acre campus in suburban Wayne, New Jersey, founded in 1855 as the Paterson City Normal School. Most first-year students live in the suite-style High Mountain East and West halls, with Hillside and Century also accepting first-years. Fall 2026 move-in is Sunday, August 23 and Monday, August 24, and every student signs up for a move-in time slot.

Spring move-in is Tuesday, Jan. 19, and Wednesday, Jan. 20. New and continuing students sign up for a date and time; details are emailed in early January.

Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
