Fall 2026 Move-In Details
New first-year move-in is Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, with last names A-L arriving 9:00-10:30 a.m. and M-Z 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Earlier slots exist for some athletes, First Scholars, international students and other groups, and transfer and returning students move in Monday, Aug. 24 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Residents must be fully vaccinated against MMR and meningitis or have an approved exemption, and complete a TB questionnaire at check-in. Neither Hogle nor Carleson has an elevator. Bring your own wagon or dolly, because shipping items ahead is discouraged.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- First-year students check in at the Shaw Center, where they get a student ID, complete the TB health screening form and sign the Housing Agreement before receiving a key. Transfer and returning students check in at Behnken Hall.
- Parking
- Carleson Hall residents park in the Foster/Carleson lot. Hogle Hall residents line up along the curb behind the building. Residence Village (Olwell, Stock, Behnken) residents use the Nunemaker/Stock lot, and curb parking on Residence Village Drive is not allowed. After unloading, move vehicles promptly to the Dumke or North parking structures. Hogle and Carleson have volunteers, and Residence Village has a few gray moving bins.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
