West Virginia State University is a public university in Institute, West Virginia, founded in 1891 as the West Virginia Colored Institute. New freshmen and transfers move in Wednesday, Aug. 12, with last names A-M from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and N-Z from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Football players move in Aug. 4, volleyball, women's soccer and track and field athletes Aug. 8, and returning and graduate students Aug. 14. Early arrival needs prior written approval from the housing director, or you will not be given access to the halls. Move-in logistics are promised closer to the date, so check your WVSU email over the summer.

Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
