West Liberty University is a public university in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and the oldest institution of higher education in the state, founded in 1837 as West Liberty Academy. Its Hilltoppers compete in NCAA Division II in the Mountain East Conference. The campus has several residence halls, apartments, houses and cabins, and new students are assigned to a building when they enroll.

New students move in on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, and RAs hold a floor meeting for new students that same day. Early arrival groups have dates that vary by team or organization. Returning students move in Aug. 22 (Commons Apartments, houses, cabins) and Aug. 23 (residence halls). Topper Wars follows on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1 pm on the Quad.

Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
