The University of Wisconsin-Stout is a public polytechnic university in Menomonie, Wisconsin, and part of the University of Wisconsin System. It was founded in 1891 and offers on-campus housing in a set of residence halls, some of them designated for sophomores and returning students. New students choose a move-in day and time in late August.

Fall 2026 Move-In Details

Move-in week runs from Aug. 22 to Aug. 30. Students choose a day and time in early August, and scheduling directions are emailed to their UW-Stout email in late July. University staff do not assist with move-in. Meal plans are not active during move-in week, though some food service is available.

Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.

Meet at Parking Lot 29 at your selected date and time.
Parking
Each student gets one unloading space in front of their building during a two-hour window. Afterward, move your vehicle to an approved parking lot.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
