Move-In
Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Move-in dates for 2026 are Sept. 2 to 6. First-year students should plan to move in Sept. 2 to 5, and returning students are encouraged to move in Sept. 5 or 6. A time slot sign-up link is sent to your UWL student email in July, and slots are limited by parking lot capacity. Most halls have no elevators and carts are limited, and pets are not allowed in the halls.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- Check in at your residence hall front desk, where staff and volunteers help.
- Parking
- Park in the lot assigned to your time slot to unload, and no parking permit is needed during move-in. Only one vehicle per person may be in the assigned lot at a time. Move your vehicle after unloading to your permitted lot, and do not drive to hall doors or on sidewalks. Trailers and large trucks are discouraged, and lot C7 is the best option for them.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
