The University of St. Thomas's St. Paul campus centers on the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas, the spiritual heart of campus since 1919, with roughly a third of residence hall floors reserved as First Year Experience floors, including in Ireland Hall, named for the university's founder.

Community of Global Learning Community (CGLC) residents move in a day later, September 2. Returning students move in September 3-8. Sign up for your Orientation & Registration (O&R) session through your admissions portal - watch your email for an invitation in early May. Complete your New Student Pre-Orientation course in Canvas beforehand, including claiming your St. Thomas email account, which is the university's official method of communication. First-year and second-year students are both required to live on campus as part of St. Thomas's Two-Year On-Campus Living Requirement.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
Furniture and item drop-off is available August 29-30, ahead of the main move-in days. Move-in itself runs September 1-2 by residence group (LLC September 1, CGLC September 2), with more specific building-group timing published by early August.
Check-in location
Check-in is grouped by residence hall: one group for Brady, Dowling, Flynn, and Morrison halls; another for Ireland Hall and Schoenecker Hall North; another for Frey and Murray halls; and a Mid Campus group for the remaining halls. Look for your specific check-in location and time in the housing portal closer to move-in.
Parking
NO trailers, box trucks, or other oversized vehicles are allowed on campus during move-in - plan to bring belongings in a standard passenger vehicle.
What you'll receive
A Twin XL bed is already provided in every room. Micro-fridges are provided in Grace Hall, Flynn Hall suites, Frey Hall, and Murray Hall specifically - other halls do not include one.
Vehicle restrictions
Trailers, box trucks, and other oversized vehicles are not permitted on campus during move-in.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
