Fall 2026 Move-In Details

Students living in the residence halls are assigned a move-in timeslot in mid-July, based on their residential hall and floor, to help minimize traffic congestion along Main Street and College Road. Students unable to arrive on their designated move-in day may arrive directly to their hall on Sunday, August 30, though move-in assistance is not available for late arrivals. This specific date should be confirmed directly with UNH Housing & Residential Life closer to move-in.

Move-in day logistics

Check-in location
Arrive during your assigned timeslot, quickly unload your vehicle at your hall's designated zone, then check in with hall staff - checking in activates your UNH ID for access to your hall.
Parking
After your quick unload, UNH staff will direct you to the parking most appropriate for your residence hall, in many cases A Lot. Do not follow your phone or vehicle's GPS directions, since many campus and area roads are adjusted or closed for move-in.
What you'll receive
Your room key, if applicable to your housing type, distributed at check-in.
Vehicle restrictions
Don't return through the drop-off line after your initial check-in - if you need to make another trip (to the store, for additional items), park in Lot A and carry items to your hall instead.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
