The University of Maine at Presque Isle is a small public university in northern Maine and part of the University of Maine System. It was founded in 1903 as Aroostook State Normal School and has a large online student population. Its athletic teams, the Owls, compete in NCAA Division III. On-campus housing is offered in a few small residence halls, including Emerson Hall and Park Hall, and most first- and second-year students live on campus.
