The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa sits in a lush, rainbow-prone valley on Oʻahu once home to Hawaiʻi's first Western-style coffee and sugarcane plantations, with campus buildings like Moore Hall - named for a philosophy professor who devoted his career to bridging Eastern and Western thought - standing alongside preserved traditional kalo (taro) wetland ponds, welcoming roughly 3,000 student residents each August under a fresh new chancellorship.

Fall 2026 Move-In Dates
Check in at the Stan Sheriff Center, where the UHM Welcome Fair, H-Zone gear store, and concessions are all available while you wait for your appointment time - you might even catch the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team practicing. Bring a photo ID and your pre-check-in confirmation to the housing table to receive your keys. If you're assigned to a residence hall, participation in the meal program is required; apartment residents have more flexibility. New UH Mānoa Chancellor Vassilis Syrmos and student housing staff personally greet families during move-in week.

Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned window - early arrivals often just wait longer.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck; loading-zone carts run out fast.
- Parking near freshman halls fills up quickly - have a backup plan or drop-off spot.
- Loading zones usually enforce a strict time limit (often 30 minutes) before you're expected to move your car to long-term parking.
- Activate your student ID online before you arrive - many schools require it for building and elevator access from day one.
- If you want your bed lofted or the frame height adjusted, check whether your school needs that request submitted online in advance - most won't do it on the spot.
- Check your school's specific package-acceptance window before shipping anything ahead - most won't hold early deliveries outside a set date range.
- Unpack essentials first: bedding, toiletries, and chargers, before anything else.
