UA's own president has personally greeted incoming families on move-in day in recent years. Out-of-state families cite Tucson's sunny weather and palm trees as factors in choosing UA. Tucson can be extremely hot in August; the university's own Heat Resilience Initiative studies and addresses the region's climate. All students select a specific move-in appointment time through the My UAHome portal. Required Online Pre-Arrival Check-In (completed before arrival) includes selecting your move-in day and time, agreeing to dorm-living policies, and downloading a printable unloading dash pass.

- Parking
- After checking in and unloading, move your car to a parking garage.

Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
