The University of Alabama in Huntsville is a public research university known for aerospace, atmospheric science and its NASA ties. First-year students who live more than 30 miles away are required to live on campus, mostly in suite-style halls with private bedrooms and shared bathrooms. New residents pick a Thursday or Friday move-in slot in mid-August.

Move-in is Thursday, Aug. 13 or Friday, Aug. 14. Students chose a check-in time slot in advance, and the assigned date is sent by UAH email. Bring a photo ID to get your key, which is given only to the resident.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- Check in with a Charger Card, mobile ID or state photo ID to receive your key.
- Parking
- Display a Move In Pass on your front windshield, up to two vehicles per student or family. Unload in the designated areas, then park right away. Move-in may pause for lightning, and volunteers and carts are not guaranteed.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
