Fall 2026 Move-In Details

First-year move-in is Friday, Sept. 4, 2026. Students pick a move-in time slot in the housing portal and can change it until Aug. 15. Early drop-off of items is Thursday, Sept. 3, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm by application, with no setup or overnight stay. Families join move-in programming that day, ending with A St. Olaf Welcome. Bring no more than two vehicles, and volunteers help unload at your hall. Complete the online Room Inventory Form on your first night.

Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.

Move-in day logistics

Check-in location
Check in at your residence hall lobby at your scheduled time.
Parking
Families receive a temporary parking permit on move-in day. Unload at your hall with volunteer help, then park at the Skoglund/Tostrud athletic and recreation facility. Limited golf cart shuttles run between the parking area and the halls from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
