Fall 2026 Move-In Details
First-year and transfer students move in on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and sign up for an arrival window on the housing portal starting July 6. Returning students move in Sunday, Aug. 23, and classes begin Monday, Aug. 24. Early arrival requests were due by Aug. 9 and carry an estimated nightly fee of $26.75. State law requires proof of meningitis vaccination or a signed waiver before moving in.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- Check in at your assigned residence hall. Your SRU ID card is your room key. New students without an ID can pick one up at their building's Welcome Desk after finishing the required online steps. Complete the Student Information Form in the housing portal beforehand to keep your place in line.
- Parking
- Follow the signs to your residence hall, since traffic patterns may differ on move-in day. The driver must stay with the vehicle to move it after unloading, but you can go inside to check in while you wait to unload.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
