Salve Regina University is a private Catholic university on an oceanside campus of historic mansions in Newport, Rhode Island. Students admitted for 2024-25 or later who do not commute from their permanent residence must live on campus for their first three years. First-year halls sit near the academic buildings, and a new residence hall for 205 students is scheduled to open in fall 2026.

Move-In
Fall 2026 Move-In Details
Move-in is Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, and students arrive within their assigned time block. Staff direct you to an unloading area, one driver stays with the vehicle, and then you move to long-term parking. Residence Life issues your student ID and a keypad combination for your room.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- Check in at the designated location near your residence hall, where Residence Life issues your student ID and room keypad combination.
- Parking
- Enter campus by your residence hall, follow staff to the unloading area and keep one driver with the vehicle. Then move to long-term parking, and follow Public Safety officers and parking assistants rather than choosing your own spot.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
