Radford University is a public university in southwest Virginia, founded in 1910 as a teachers' college for women. Most new students under 21 are required to live in university housing for four consecutive semesters, mostly in double-occupancy residence halls grouped into the Governor's, Main and Moffett quads. The university also operates apartments and a separate housing option in downtown Roanoke.

Move-In
Fall 2026 Move-In Details
First-year and transfer students move in Thursday, Aug. 20 or Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, and returning students move in Aug. 19 and 20. Sign up for a one-hour slot between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; instructions arrive a few weeks before move-in. Bring your student ID or check-in QR code, and make sure your student account balance is cleared and, for new students, your Enrollment Checklist is complete, or you will not receive your key.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- Go to the check-in tent near your assigned unloading lot and look for the Check-In Here banner. Staff check you in and issue your room key.
- Parking
- Unloading lots are by hall: Norwood, Jefferson and Madison use Lot F; Floyd, Peery, Trinkle and Stuart use Lots JJ and AA; Moffett, Bolling and Pocahontas use Lots M and HH; Washington, Ingles and Draper use Lot DD. Fill out a vehicle hangtag for 30 minutes of unloading, then move your car to residential parking or to the overflow and parent parking lots.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
