Pennsylvania Western University (PennWest) is a public university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, formed in 2022 from California, Clarion and Edinboro universities of Pennsylvania. It operates three campuses, and all three (California, Clarion and Edinboro) have on-campus housing, along with PennWest Global Online. Full-time first-time students and transfers with fewer than 48 credits must live in university housing for their first four semesters unless they commute from home within the approved distance or get an exemption. Fall 2026 new-student move-in is Friday, August 21 at all three campuses.

Move-in is Sunday, Jan. 17: new students noon to 3 p.m. at their assigned hall (Reinhard Villages residents 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Reinhard Community Center); returning students may return from noon. International students approved for early arrival may come Jan. 11-15 by appointment.

Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
