Housing assignments begin in mid-March for first-time freshmen who meet the March 1 Priority Housing Registration Deadline, improving the chances of being paired with a preferred roommate. Camp Cowboy, OSU's own orientation camp tradition, offers an early opportunity to meet fellow students and ease the transition to college life. Housing staff and Cowboy Carrier volunteers are available to help with unloading - August in Stillwater can be hot, so plan for the heat and adjust your room's thermostat to help cool the space.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
General Move-In runs Aug. 12-13, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Wes Watkins Center (corner of Hall of Fame Ave. and Washington St.) - after 2 p.m., go directly to your hall's Desk Service location instead.
Check-in location
Bennett Hall residents check in at Bennett Hall, first floor.
What you'll receive
Present your OSU ID, driver's license, or other government-issued photo ID to receive your room key and check-in materials.
Vehicle restrictions
Move your vehicle to a designated parking area as soon as you've finished unloading, and keep your room door locked throughout move-in day given the increased foot traffic.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
