Friday, August 28 availability is very limited - most new students should plan for Saturday, August 29. NYU Welcome Weekend runs the same two days at both the Washington Square and Brooklyn campuses, giving students and families a chance to explore campus and connect with university departments while moving in. Note for Brooklyn hall residents moving in Friday: Jay Street, between Tillary and Livingston Streets, operates as a weekday busway starting at 7 a.m.

Move-in day logistics

Arrival window
A two-hour scheduled move-in appointment; entry isn't permitted more than 30 minutes before your scheduled time.
Check-in location
The front entrance of your assigned residence hall.
Parking
NYU does not provide parking, and cars cannot be left unattended - park in a legal parking space or garage after unloading your belongings.
What you'll receive
Your NYU ID, keys, a guest wristband, and a welcome packet at your residence hall's front entrance; a limited supply of moving carts is available first come, first served.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
