Fall 2026 Move-In Details
New-student move-in is Monday, Aug. 24 and Tuesday, Aug. 25. Each student gets an assigned time, shown with the room assignment in the HuskyHouse portal beginning in July. Meal plans are active on both days.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Check-in location
- Check in at the Van Pelt and Opie Library at your assigned time to get your room key, a move-in map, a temporary parking permit and a welcome packet. Families with more than one vehicle check all of them in at the library first.
- Parking
- Follow the route on your map, since traffic patterns differ from usual, and put the temporary unloading permit on your dashboard with your name, phone number, room number and arrival time. You may be sent to a temporary overflow lot first. After unloading, move your vehicle to Lot 22, 23 or 24. Free university shuttles run every 15 minutes between the Student Development Complex and the residence halls.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
