Fall 2026 Move-In Details
New first-year and transfer move-in is Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, with arrival times assigned by hall, floor and odd or even room number, starting at 8am. Golden Bear Village West, Golden Bear Village South and the Honors Building check in anytime from 8am to 3pm. Returning students move in Aug. 21 to 23.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day logistics
- Parking
- Arrive only at your assigned time, since early arrivals are not allowed in. A printable Move-In Day parking pass is emailed in the second week of August; display it on your windshield. Families may bring one vehicle at a time onto South Campus, with 15 minutes to unload using four-way flashers on, then move the car to North Campus lots. Free shuttles run between North and South Campus. First-year students park in lots B2, B3 or A4.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
