Indiana University South Bend is a public regional campus of Indiana University, founded in 1922 as an extension of IU Bloomington. It is mostly a commuter campus. On-campus housing is limited to River Crossing, an apartment community across the St. Joseph River, reached by a pedestrian bridge. Residents have private bedrooms and share kitchens and living rooms in furnished one-, two- and four-bedroom apartments.
