Move in on the morning of Friday, Aug. 21 - the residence halls open at 8:00 a.m., and you may not move in on Aug. 22 or 23. Housing assignments for Fall 2026 become available August 1, 2026. Champlain's campus sits in a residential Burlington neighborhood with extremely limited parking - review the strict campus parking policy in advance, since it applies to everyone, including move-in day. Enjoy the classic Champlain tradition of a Lake Champlain boat cruise as part of Orientation weekend, along with lawn games and live music at an open-mic night.

Move-in day logistics
- Arrival window
- Friday, August 21, 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. - you must move in that morning (not August 22 or 23). Commuter students check in later that morning at the IDX Student Life Center.
- Check-in location
- In front of your residence hall, where you check in formally to receive your full Orientation schedule and meet your Resident Advisor.
- Parking
- Unload your belongings at your residence hall, then park at the Lakeside parking lot; a shuttle takes families back to campus. Campus parking is extremely limited, so review the parking policy in advance.
- What you'll receive
- Your full Orientation schedule and an introduction to your Resident Advisor at check-in, plus the Orientation packet distributed earlier. Move-in crews are on hand to help you move in.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
