Move-In
Fall 2026 Move-In Details
First-time freshmen and transfer students move in Monday, Aug. 17 and Tuesday, Aug. 18. Move-in is by appointment only, and a time block (hall and floor) is emailed to your BSU email account. You get two hours within your block, and early or late arrivals cannot be accommodated. You need a cleared move-in status (academic and financial requirements met, plus the medical history form and immunization records, including the meningococcal ACWY vaccine required by Maryland law) to receive keys. Up to two helpers at least 16 years old may assist and must leave at the end of your block, and helpers must be out of the halls by 7:00 p.m. Arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your time, and by 3:45 p.m. for late-afternoon blocks, since arrivals after 4:00 p.m. are asked to return the next business day.
Check your assignment in the housing portal for your specific date and time.
Move-in day tips
- Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
- Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
- Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
- Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
