Select your move-in appointment via the University Housing Portal once room selection begins in June. Unlike most schools, Auburn does not require first-year students to live on campus, though most incoming freshmen choose to. No candles, incense, fireworks, weapons, space heaters, or pets except fish are allowed in the residence halls - no nails, tape, or other products that damage paint or wall surfaces either.

Move-in day logistics

Parking
Once you reach the centralized check-in location for your specific community, follow the color-coded traffic signs on the move-in maps to your unloading zone.
Vehicle restrictions
No University-provided furniture can be removed from the room or suite.

Move-in day tips

  • Arrive during your assigned move-in window - arriving early may mean waiting until your time slot.
  • Bring a rolling cart or hand truck - campus carts can run out quickly during busy move-in periods.
  • Have a parking backup plan - spaces near residence halls can fill up quickly, so know where you can unload if your preferred area is full.
  • Watch the loading-zone time limit - many campuses require you to move your vehicle to longer-term parking after unloading.
